| Welcome back from the summer break. I hope you all had some restful days off. While volumes are faintly below the levels of the crisis year 2022 with its exceptionally high volumes, we can still see an overall positive trend.
I'm confident in the strength of our products, our services, and our team. EEX is still the world's largest and most liquid gas spot market. In derivatives, we’ve more than quintupled our volumes compared to 2021 and gained significant market share. Therefore, I'm committed to continuing our growth story, both in terms of absolute numbers and market share.
I also have a lot of confidence in the markets. After a turbulent year in 2022, our volumes are telling a story of trust, long-term trading, and lower volatility.
After the summer break, it's now time to focus on our core business. Energy exchanges play a vital role in helping the market to make prices transparent and contribute to security of supply.
In our Gas Market Update, we’ll have a closer look on our markets next to an overview of our new initiatives in the future markets of hydrogen and biogas.
And finally, I'd like to invite you all to join us in London for our annual EEX Group London Reception. We'll be discussing the latest trends in the energy industry and sharing our vision for the future.

Ramping up the H2-Market
|
|
EEX is developing a trading platform for hydrogen markets. By the end of 2024, trading participants can trade hydrogen as well as its derivatives such as ammonia, methanol and aviation fuel in a safe and liquid environment. The first client at this auction platform is Hintco, a subsidiary of the H2Global Foundation.

Trading biogas certificates in France
|
| EEX has been appointed by the French Ministry of Energy Transition to develop and operate registry and auctioning services for biogas Guarantees of Origin (GOs), as well as registry services for biogas production certificates. Also GO registry will already be launched from October on.

Market Update
|
| EEX gas market volumes are still on a high level, but lower than last year at the peak of the energy crisis. This lower activity also in the Spot segment reflects a much less stressed situation.
