EEX Gas & Sustainability Markets Newsletter | February 2024
Dear customers, partners and friends of EEX,
Welcome to our first gas newsletter of the year!
2024 got off to a fast start at EEX.
First, we are excited about the arrival of our new USD-denominated TTF Natural Gas Month futures in April. In recent years, this denomination has significantly grown in importance across our markets – both in Europe and beyond, and we are looking forward to extending the hedging opportunities for our LNG and wider trading communities.
In addition, we’ve been delighted to see important milestones being achieved in our integration with GET Baltic, as we now offer REMIT Inside Information Disclosure services for our Baltic-Finnish natural gas markets through the EEX Transparency Platform.
We were also pleased to see the record trading volume achieved on the GET Baltic markets in 2023, as part of the continued overall growth of our gas markets. You can learn more about our volumes from last year in our annual report.
These market developments are driven by you, our customers, and it’s important for us to support you every day. Therefore, we are glad to have introduced volume rebates for our gas futures products across all trading hubs. We believe in the importance of consistently improving our offering for you.
Looking into the future – we can’t wait to see you again at E-world next week! We look forward to sharing our thoughts with you on the importance of gas price transparency and the role of reliable indices as part of the New Energy Systems Forum. We encourage you to listen to our talks and visit our booth, to engage in discussions on current topics affecting the gas trading community.
Have a good read,
Steffen Köhler
